The reason for this is that Microsoft decided not to include their own help file program "winhlp32.exe" with the release of Vista.

What makes even less sense is that Microsoft decided to not distribute the 32 bit version of the help software but includes the 16 bit Windows 3.1 version of the software with Vista.

Why did Microsoft do this? I have no idea. There simply is no logical explanation for this decision. Unless . . . perhaps . . . they wanted to give you the impression that previous versions of Office or their other software will not work on Vista.

Microsoft does not permit me to distribute "winhlp32.exe" with my software.

However knowing how Microsoft works they will probably change this link periodically so you may need to Google "winhlp32.exe"

Once you download and install "winhlp32.exe" all the help files for all your software will work on Vista.
