VariColor Clay Bowls

The varicolor bowls are a new technique that I am really enjoying. The clay is colored by hand using various oxides. This gives a uniform base clay. Bowls are made by piecing together the various colors of clay to form the bowl.

This is a labor intensive art form, but I think it is worth the time and trouble. The designs go from the inside of the bowl through the wall of the bowl and to the outside of the bowl. The contrast between the color patches of clay is dramatic.
