By far the easiest business to generate a web site for is one that is already established.
Quite often it is a simple case of taking your business' sales brochures and making it
come alive with active links. HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) permits the visitor
of your site to move through your marketing material quickly and efficiently.
One argument often heard is that "my business is local . . . why market on the
Internet?" When I worked for ComputerLand we needed to have some setup disks
duplicated for a client. Three people sat down with the Yellow Pages and could not
locate a local disk duplicating service. I ran one search on the Internet using "disk
duplication Oklahoma City" as the search criteria and immediately found a company
located within a few blocks of our building. More and more this will be the rule and
not the exception to generating new business.
I am sure that you have noticed that well established brand name corporations are now
advertising not only their product but also their web sites. Why would they do this if they
did not feel it was important to their success?
Having your marketing material on the Internet with easy access to your customers does
have a down side. If your web site is not well designed and kept current, it does not reflect well on your company.
